Psychiatric care without the commute
Telehealth, also called telepsychiatry, lets you meet with Dr. Harvey J. Green by secure video instead of coming into the office. It's the same care you would receive in person: a thorough evaluation, thoughtful medication management, and psychotherapy. You don't have to drive, park, or take half a day off work.
Virtual visits work especially well for:
- Busy professionals and parents with limited time
- Patients in Greater Minnesota who live far from a psychiatrist
- Routine medication follow-up visits
- College students home for breaks or attending school in Minnesota
- Anyone who simply feels more comfortable talking from home
Who can use telehealth?
Dr. Green is licensed in Minnesota, so virtual visits are available to patients who are physically located in Minnesota at the time of the appointment. If you'll be traveling out of state, let the office know so your visit can be rescheduled or arranged in person.
What a virtual visit looks like
After you request services, the office will schedule your appointment and send instructions for joining. At your appointment time, you join from a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera. Find a quiet, private space with a reliable internet connection. Visits use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, and your session isn't recorded or shared.
Can medication be prescribed through telehealth?
Yes. Dr. Green can evaluate, prescribe, and adjust most psychiatric medications through virtual visits. Some medications, including certain controlled substances such as ADHD stimulants, carry additional federal and state requirements, and some situations call for an in-person visit. Dr. Green will explain what applies to your care.
Is telehealth covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans, including Medicare, cover telehealth psychiatry visits. Coverage varies by plan, so please call (612) 339-7904 to verify your benefits.
Prefer to meet in person?
Dr. Green also sees patients at his downtown Minneapolis and Excelsior offices. Many patients mix both: an in-person first evaluation, then virtual follow-ups.
